A Liverpool based specialist in the repair of steel and other metal window frames has joined the Steel Window Association, attracted by the trade body’s reputation within the construction industry and the access to business support which membership offers.

The Window Repair Company NW Ltd., was established 20 years ago and has built up its business working in the education, commercial and other non-domestic sectors; being active right across the country, and able to undertake the most difficult of technical challenges.

Managing Director Dave Larner, comments: “We cover the whole of the country from Land’s End all the way up to Aberdeen, and will literally consider any contract providing the size warrants the journey. We have even worked across in Dublin and Northern Ireland; and have been involved with most of the large main contractors including Vinci, Mansell, Balfour Beatty and Carillion. We also work a lot on schools and for the MOD.

“While we are very much specialists in the repair of steel, we are also able to fabricate replacement frames where repair is not feasible. This has led us to produce sections from scratch where they have not been available for the older style frames; and we have also had a lot of work come our way on cast iron frames in recent times. One of the most interesting contracts we have had in the past couple of years has been working for Mace which was the main contractor on the refurbishment of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon (pictured).”

One of the Window Repair Company’s areas of speciality is dealing with the removal and replacement of old lead paint; a task that is as strictly controlled as dealing with asbestos removal, and covered by CLAW (Control of Lead At Work ) Act.

Referring to joining the Steel Window Association, Dave Larner adds: “We view the association as being the only trade organisation with a background in steel windows, and it is doing a good job for the industry. We are expecting to gain good technical support and also representation in terms of influencing new legislation. Then there is the fact that having the SWA logo on your stationery and brochures carries real weight with potential clients.”
