SWA IS NUMBER ONE FOR BFRC
The SWA supports member companies with wide ranging services including product development, market research and promotion. At the same time SWA helps ensure that each member operates to the highest industry standards.
SWA's W30, a new range of domestic double glazed windows aimed primarily at the replacement market, embodies classic style along with 21st century thermal efficiency.
The W30 style meets the latest Building Regulation requirements for domestic dwellings yet uses many parts from previous generations of steel windows and looks every bit the definitive example of a traditional steel window.
The W30 is BFRC registered and achieves a certified Window Energy Rating (WER) in band C.
The critical design constraint was reducing the amount of material facing the elements and the SWA members in the design team also specified warm edge spacers, low iron (to boost solar gain), soft coat low-e glass and Krypton gas. Particular trouble was taken to ensure that exactly the right double glazing unit gap was established in order to make the Krypton as effective as possible. It turned out that a 10mm space between the two panes works best.
The W30 profile is designed to fit neatly into the slot left by the great majority of existing steel windows since it has almost identical sight lines to the widely used SMW F-range profiles. Like SMW, W30 offers top and side-hinged casements, plus fixed lights, in both single and multi-light configurations.
When SWA members access the BFRC web site (at www.bfrc.org) they use a password to take them to the marketing tool kit. They then get inside tips on using the BFRC label and maximising the benefit they can get for BFRC status.
The tool kit reveals how to get individually designed laminated posters as well as leaflets the SWA members can pass on to homeowners and potential customers.
