STEEL WINDOWS ON A GREEK ISLAND
Working in the company’s London factory, NSB Casements created the units with 24mm sealed units and the outside glazing consisting of Saint Gobain's top of the range solar reflective glass, Climaplus.
The owners of the villa – who contacted NSB Casements through the Steel Window Association website – considered having the SWA’s W20 style but when it became clear that Climaplus was going to be used, NSB Casements produced a design of W40 with minimum T bar lines, in order to maximise the size of the glazing. The frames were galvanized and polyester powder coated for maximum protection against the elements.
W40 is a development of W20, with similar aesthetics and the same slim sight lines, but able to accommodate 28mm glazing profiles. Hinges, pivots and locking bolts can be concealed within the profile.
The main problem on the project for NSB Casements was the logistics. "We have exported before, but usually they take the frames and glaze them," explains Managing Director Don Northam. "This customer wanted us to do the whole thing, from manufacture to glazing and fixing on-site.
“The client is very pleased with the finished project.”
