With over 60 years in the steel window industry behind him, Steel Window Association (SWA) Technical Consultant Peter Johnson gave a unique take on the window business in his retirement speech at the recent SWA AGM in London.

At Peter Johnson’s final SWA meeting he gave an informative and entertaining talk on the changes within the industry, combined with some of his personal reminiscences.

He covered the history of metal windows throughout the world, developments in glazing technology and the challenges from other materials after the Second World War. Major issues for the future are sustainability and minimum technical competence.

Peter finished by wishing all members success in the future. He was thanked warmly by all present at the AGM, led by SWA President David Grew.
